When in Nabunturan: Malanog Cave

Location: Sitio Tindalo, Barangay Mainit, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province. Coordinates.

I never had imagined that I would've experience complete darkness inside a cave, minus the sparkly stalagmites and stalactites.

Maria Anarey Campitan, Nabunturan Emergency Response Team Member

Together with the provincial caving coordinator of Compostela Valley, Prescila Decena, Provincial Tourism staffs, members of Compostela Valley Caves Conservation Society) CA-ConSo, selected Local Government Unit of Nabunturan employees from Municpal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Engineering Office, Nabunturan Emergency Response Team and Municipal Tourism Office, I was able to experience caving for the first time. Armed with skull guards and headlights the group descended into the depths of Malanog Cave

An angry swiftlet greeted us as we reached our first stop, however I was not able to take photo of it.

Also, a cave spider was friendly enough to strike a pose.

On the second stop, everybody will descend into an estimated 20 feet sinking by rappelling. But if you want to take the adventurous road try climbing down the sink.

Happy Kid.

The whole experience was an inspiring and eye-opening, there are still so many hidden gems that Nabunturan has to offer, and I'm glad to have explore one, Malanog Natures Park and Cave.
